Introduction
I have decided to create a blog to track game by game detailed data relating to the Psychic Pets project run by mathematics and youtube legend James Parker. I'll let James himself let you know what the project is:
So there you go, every match will (James hopes) have some pets supporting each team who will make predictions on it. All the pets and predictions are available on the official psychic pets website.
By using this site to find the predictions for each match I hope to then create a post for each match that analyses those predictions, and thereby track how the project is going. At a bare minimum per game I intend to analyse the prediction made by any pet supporter of either club involved in the match. I am also going to attempt to analyse all the predictions made by pets from all the other teams, but checking every single one of (currently) 769 pets is pretty time consuming, and since during the group stages there are often 4 matches a day this may not happen consistently during this part of the tournament. If the stats for a particular game are taking me a while, I may decide to publish incomplete statistics at first, then finish updating them later on, and if I use this strategy I am most likely to complete the teams with low numbers of pets, then update for the country or countries with the highest number of pets (England, Belgium and Germany currently have way more pets than any other country). If I do managed to keep up with all the predictions of every single pet for every single game I also hope to produce 'end of day' statistics throughout the tournament, such as a league table of the most pyschic teams at that stage, and how accurate the averaged prediction for each match has been.
This blog is unofficial, and is not affiliated in any way with Stand-up Maths Ltd, Danger Science Limited, or James Parker himself, and as such if James, the Pyschic Pets team, or anyone at Stand-up Maths Ltd or Danger Science Limited wish me to remove this blog, or change/limit which statistics I calculate and publish, then of course I will do.
